Bruce is often quoted in the financial media and was featured in a Wall Street Journal article in 2015. The article discussed Jentner’s philosophy of ignoring market predictions and, instead, creating a globally diversified, low-cost portfolio. It also explained how Jentner regularly reviews clients’ portfolios for rebalancing opportunities to bring them on target by selling overweighted investments and buying underweighted investments.
Bruce currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, is on the Executive Advisory Board for the Mercy Economic Development International Corporation, and is a member of the Akron Tax and Estate Planning Council. He is an alumnus of Leadership Akron, past president of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, a former member of the Chamber’s Small Business Council, and a former member of the Ohio Governor’s Small Business Advisory Council.
Bruce Jentner founded The Jentner Corporation in Akron, Ohio in 1984 because he saw a need for effective wealth management targeted toward clients’ most significant financial goals. The firm was started with a fee-for-service model that allowed it to provide financial advice to clients without having to purchase investment or insurance products. Jentner built its reputation by earning the trust of clients through unwavering integrity, disciplined investment management, and exceptional customer service.
In 1998, The Jentner Corporation became a fee-only firm. This transition meant that no financial products were sold, and all advice was provided on a fiduciary basis 100% of the time for 100% of clients. At the same time, Jentner’s investment philosophy changed from the conventional active-management approach to employing globally diversified, passively engineered, low-cost investments. The Jentner team made this change because historical data exposed that even though an active investment manager might have a successful track record, it is nearly impossible to continually post superior returns through stock and bond picking.
Since that time, The Jentner Corporation has grown to a firm of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals who serve clients and endowments throughout the nation with investments totaling more than $300 million. Jentner Wealth Management provides both financial planning and investment management to individuals, families, and trusts. Jentner Global Management is a specialized division that provides institutions with investment portfolio management services, including portfolios customized specifically for endowments and foundations.
Bruce became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 1985 and is a magna cum laude graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
